So long Summer, hello harvest. . .
As the summer season comes to a close we shift gears and focus on the vineyard. 2017 has been a unique year to say the least, and as per usual we're excited to see what that means for the wines. A wet cold Spring had us biting our nails waiting for the vines first push, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting until nearly the latest bud break ever in Elhanan Vineyard's history. After the late start and a summer that refused to begin, like a stubborn lawn mower after the winter the grapes took some convincing to get going. By the end of June we were off to the races and the start of nearly 60 days of no rain. The long dry spell gave way to fires but also caught us up to previous warm vintages leaving us wondering what was in store for such and up and down year!? Time will tell, stay tuned.
